The NFL AnalyzerWhat is the NFL Analyzer ?First, a definition: Benchmark: A standard by which something can be measured or judged. What the NFL Analyzer does is allow you to query the NFL database for almost any answer you are looking for. You have 3 benchmarks to work with, and 3 rows and 3 columns of handicapping categories. Plus a Point Spread/No Point Spread Option. For you Math freaks, thats a total of 162 questions you can ask. How does it work? You are given three benchmarks: Regular Season: This compares all 30 teams, the 6 NFL Divisions, and the two NFL Conferences against their OWN regular season record. Conf. HC: Choose this benchmark and the 30 teams and the 6 divisions winning pct. are calculated using the Handicapping category you have chosen, and compared against their Conference Avg. for this particular Handicapping category. League HC: Similar to the Conf. HC benchmark, except the teams, divisions, and conferences are compared against the NFL average for that particular Handicapping Category. You can also limit your search to whatever Percentage you are interested in. This option will just fill the Listbox with the teams that answered your question. You can use the Shrink/Expand button to view just Conference/Divisons, or All 30 teams. While you are moving through the different categories you can also view the upcoming games on the scrolling marquee. You can view any section of the NFL Year by simply moving the Start Week, End Week buttons up or down. Every time you change a Week, a new benchmark is automatically calculated. Lets try a simple example: Show me the difference between the Conferences and Divisions overall records, and their records at home. Also, show me ANY teams that have a WORSE record at Home than their regular season record. How to do it: To find any teams that are playing worse at home than overall, we just need to find the teams that have a negative change ( %Chg). Set the Minimum change to -100. The Maximum change to -1. BINGO! There are 4 teams that are playing worse at home than what they are playing overall. In addition, both of the Central Divisions are playing at least 15% better at home than overall. |
| Now lets EXPAND the listbox to verify the results. You can easily see that the Houston Oilers are averaging 46.7% regular season overall (under column RS), but are 2-6 at home or 25%, for a change of -21.7%. The other three teams that have a worse home record than overall record are the 49er's, Jets, and Eagles. |
